Her experience of working in a start-up and also in a fortune 500 company gave her a deep understanding of not only how to protect intellectual property from the perspective of growth, but also ways to protect intellectual property from loss through technology transfer to other countries. As an in-house patent agent, Jaya provided IP support to research projects from infancy to product development by working closely with the researchers, and especially in a cross-functional team from legal, technical and business. Prior to her career in intellectual property, Jaya worked as a research and development scientist at a start-up company working with ceramics, polymers, and polymer nano-composites for photonic applications.
Jaya is well versed in various aspects of patent law, with 15 years of experience in the field, including U.S. patent to preparation and prosecution, through appeal, foreign prosecution, third party submissions, patentability analysis, freedom to operate analysis, validity assessments, and IP strategy development.
