Jonathan H. Spadt Led Panel at the Federal Circuit Bar Association’s Global Series
Philadelphia, PA | October 2018 – The FCBA Global Series 2018 took place October 10-12, 2018 at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, Ontario. RP CEO & President, Jonathan H. Spadt moderated a panel entitled, “Trade, Economics, and the “Value” of IP” on Friday, October 12, 2018.
Mr. Spadt is a member of the Global Series Committee and presented with a group of high level speakers. The panel consisted of: Robert Brookfield, Director General, Global Affairs Canada; Angela Ellard, Ways & Means Committee, Chief Trade Counsel and Trade Subcommittee Staff Director, United States House of Representatives; and Pippa Hall, Director of Innovation and Chief Economist, United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office.
Global Series sessions, part of an on-going dialogue, address topics of global significance at a senior level of discussion. Working closely with government representatives, adjudicators, corporate leaders, litigation leaders, academics, and others in the global community, the Series responds to emerging challenges. The on-going Series includes participants from Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United States, the People’s Republic of China, Brazil, and other countries.
With extensive international and domestic experience, Mr. Spadt continues to lead RP in developing direct relationships with global companies in both Europe and Asia. His practice focuses on the development and management of international commercialization plans and the comprehensive strategies that support those plans, including IP policy, procurement, monetization and enforcement. With a particular focus on transatlantic innovation trade, he has experience dealing with the differences between the U.S. and European legal frameworks. This experience supports his active role in policy discussions relevant to improving IP laws with the objective of lowering trade barriers between jurisdictions having mutual interests in fostering improved development and commercialization of innovation.
