RatnerPrestia Elects Christopher Blaszkowski as Shareholder
Philadelphia, PA | August 2017 – RatnerPrestia is pleased to announce that Christopher H. Blaszkowski has become a Shareholder of the firm. Chris has extensive experience in patent litigation and federal litigation practice. He serves as local and lead counsel, and is highly skilled at formulating litigation and pre-litigation strategies, as well as executing day-to-day litigation case management from initial pleadings through post-trial motions. His talent set includes executing efficient discovery, including taking and defending depositions for both fact and expert witnesses, briefing claim construction, summary judgment, and in limine motions, as well as arguing these motions to the court. Chris is adept at achieving results quickly, fairly, and with a pragmatic business sense.
“Chris has an outstanding reputation both inside and outside the firm,” Jonathan H. Spadt, CEO & President of RatnerPrestia stated. “I’ve worked with him on many disputes. He’s an unusual litigator because he acts reasonable at all times and this has proven to get him results quicker and more effectively than those who so often fight for the sake of fighting. His pragmatic and calm demeanor serves our clients well.”
“This is a remarkable opportunity, and one I very gratefully accepted,” Chris explained. “Under Jon’s leadership, I have watched RatnerPrestia grow its already well-established brand as an IP powerhouse in new and exciting ways (including through the addition of RatnerPrestia’s DC and Munich offices). From an internal perspective, RatnerPrestia is a firm that prides itself on the mentoring and development of its younger attorneys. I attribute that practice to where I am today. I truly look forward to continuing to serve the firm and its clients in my new role.”
As a Delaware attorney and as a former District Court judicial clerk, Chris appreciates the sophistication and expertise of the Delaware District Court in resolving intellectual property issues. Chris leverages this litigation experience in his post-grant proceedings practice. He routinely represents and advises clients in post-grant proceedings such as inter partes reviews (IPRs) before the PTAB. He has successfully represented patent owners and petitioners alike. From petition drafting through final written decision and appeal, Chris understands the strict procedures governing AIA trials and uses this knowledge for his clients’ benefit—invalidating the patent claims of a competitor or guiding his clients’ valuable patent claims to safety.
He regularly publishes and speaks on patent issues, post grant proceedings, and a variety of other topics. He also manages the firm’s column in the Legal Intelligencer. On a pro bono basis, he represents dependent, neglected, and abused children as a guardian ad litem.
Chris received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry and earned his Juris Doctorate degree as a magna cum laude graduate from Drexel University.
