RatnerPrestia Co-Founder Selected for The PIPLA Distinguished IP Practitioner Award

RatnerPrestia co-founder, Paul F. Prestia was presented with the third Distinguished Intellectual Property Practitioner Award of the Philadelphia Intellectual Property Association by outgoing Association President and fellow RatnerPrestia Shareholder, Benjamin E. Leace.

Prestia had been selected for the award by the PIPLA Board of Governors. The award is given to a PIPLA member with a distinguished career and who has made outstanding contributions to the PIPLA and the Philadelphia region IP community. In March, Prestia had been presented with a Distinguished Service Medal by the Linn Inn Alliance of the American Inns of Court.

In addition to leading RatnerPrestia for many years, Prestia served as an officer and director of various national and regional IP organizations, including the PIPLA and the Benjamin Franklin Inn of Court, that he also co-founded. Since turning over the leadership of RatnerPrestia to Jonathan Spadt in 2011, Prestia has led the firm’s business development efforts in China.

The PIPLA Award was presented at the Association’s meeting on May 17th at the Union League. RatnerPrestia Shareholders John W. McGlynn, Stephen J. Weed, and Lawrence E. Ashery spoke at that meeting as part of the Association’s 27th Annual Review of Intellectual Property Decisions of the United States Court of Appeal for the Federal Circuit.
