Paul Prestia has been instrumental in the development of RatnerPrestia as a nationally recognized intellectual property ("IP") law firm, which is highly regarded for its technical skills and professionalism. His recognition by Chambers, as one of the five leading IP attorneys in Pennsylvania and his selection (in a peer review process), along with five others in the firm, as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer, confirms that his skills and dedication are reflected in those of the firm. Mr. Prestia's high profile presence in IP professional organizations is still another measure of the recognition he and the firm have earned.

Mr. Prestia began his professional career as an engineer in the airmunitions and petroleum fields. He then worked as a patent agent and patent attorney for General Electric Company before entering private practice. Mr. Prestia's major clients over the years have ranged from small start-ups to mature large domestic and foreign conglomerates. He has represented clients in such diverse industries as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food products, catalysts and catalytic processes, semiconductor products, film colorization, and textiles. Currently he is most involved with clients in life sciences fields, working on strategic patent development product clearance issues, potential liability identification and avoidance strategies, and asset management strategies.

Over the years Mr. Prestia's practice has covered essentially every aspect of protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights. He has represented many clients as lead counsel in IP domestic lawsuits and lead U.S. counsel in foreign patent litigation. He has also served as a consultant or expert witness for others in litigation and client overseer for foreign patent litigation. He has advised clients on patent validity and infringement issues, negotiated in-bound and out-bound licenses, and counseled clients on offensive and defensive IP strategy and due diligence for acquisition and licensing. He has been involved with, and managed, domestic and foreign patent preparation and prosecution, as well as securing trademark and copyright registrations.

Mr. Prestia has also been an active student, advocate of and participant in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes. As a trained mediator he has served as a court appointed mediator for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Private parties have also retained him to mediate their patent, trademark and copyright disputes and to serve as a neutral evaluator of technical and patent issues.

Mr. Prestia has authored many articles on intellectual property law and practice and has been a featured speaker at many regional and national professional associations programs.

Mr. Prestia is a member of RatnerPrestia's BioChemPharma Group.
